Famous teacher's business card Sun Lin is the director of Chinese teaching at Wuhan Yucai Primary School. The first most beautiful Mr. in the new era in the country, the model of female workers in Wuhan City, the charming teacher of Wuhan City, and the outstanding young teacher of Wuhan City. |
"What should I do if my child is always clinging to his mobile phone and tablet at home, and he doesn't read the new books in the cabinet at all?"
"My child loves to read, but only pays attention to the storyline, not good words and sentences, how can this be good?"
"My child just wants to listen to me read the story, and refuses to read it himself, how can I treat it?"
……
When paper books suffer from the dimensionality reduction of short videos, when the charm of words gradually dissolves in fragmented reading, when parent-child reading becomes a one-man show for parents...... How do we solve the problem?
■ Step 1: Break the ice
Stimulate children's interest in reading
Children don't like to read, and the core of it is that they have no interest. To stimulate your child's interest in reading, try the following three tips.
- Do what you like. In the initial stage of cultivating an interest in reading, we need to abandon our personal preferences and return to the "child-oriented". You must know that the key to reading enlightenment is not the "value scale" of the text, but the fire that ignites the child's heart. The sooner the reading initiation, the better, when the child babbles and begins to flip the small cloth book and small card; When a child enters kindergarten and is interested in colorful and vivid picture books; When children enter primary school, they have expectations for fairy tales and fables...... Like succulents, we might as well choose books to their liking, so that they can read what they love. This kind of stress-free textual exploration will allow the seeds of reading to sprout quietly in his heart.
- Create space. If we want children to fall in love with reading, we must learn to create space in terms of time and field. At home, you can carefully create a reading corner for children such as cherry blossom pink and starry sky blue, with enough lighting, cute and comfortable small sofas, and plush carpets full of childlike fun...... In such a field, children must be willing to go, like to go, and will often go; On weekends or holidays, walk into the library hand in hand with your children, and when your fingertips run over the neatly arranged books, when the sound of pages turning in your ears rings...... There is no need to urge and remind, he will see the silent demonstration of the example, he will learn the civilized etiquette of speaking softly and slowly, and he will meet the stars of thought that will affect his life in the vast universe of words; Books can be read and listened to, and we can also make clever use of fragmented time, put a poem on the way to school, and listen to an episode of classic stories on the way home...... At first, the child may not think so, but over time, it will enter the brain and heart, and these seemingly scattered minutes and seconds will eventually precipitate into the warm and jade literary background of the child's life.
- Parent-child companionship. For children who are not interested in reading, it is very important for parents to provide high-quality companionship in the early stage. As the saying goes, "Teaching by example is more important than teaching!" "Sitting side by side with your child in the exclusive reading corner and sharing a quiet time of reading is also a good opportunity to cultivate parent-child bonding. At first, parents can talk and children listen, and slowly you can try to read one paragraph at a time, or read together in different roles. In order to encourage children to listen and read, we can imitate the storyteller, stop abruptly at the wonderful points of the plot, guess, bury mines, and set up hanging...... Whet your child's appetite and activate your internal drive to read.
■ Step 2: Get used to it
Complete the butterfly transformation from passive to active
When children have a certain interest in reading, we can start from habits and guide children to complete the transition from passive to active.
Clever use of "chatting". What does the child know after reading? What do you think about a person, an event, or a choice in the book...... As you chat, consider asking your child, "If you were so-and-so in the story, what would you do?" The child's answer will definitely reflect his view of things, and parents who are interested can quickly seize the opportunity of education to help their children improve their cognition and establish three views. Of course, we can also guide children to think immersively about the wonderful plots in the book. For example, after reading Robinson Crusoe, ask your children, "If you were on this desert island, what would be your priority for survival?" "In chatting with children, we can make bold assumptions, bold predictions and think about the consequences with them, so that high-quality chats will definitely help children to achieve advanced thinking.
Use "Reading Passbook" skillfully. As we read more books and improve our reading skills, we can plan with them. For example, at the beginning of the school year, discuss with your child and make a reading list that you can read, stipulating the number of books to read each month and the specific list of books (you can combine the required reading list with the child's self-selected reading list). After each book, the child can save the title and total number of words in the "Reading Passbook". This visual reading handbook can clearly record children's reading footprints, and will also bring children a great sense of achievement. If you break through the monthly plan, you can also provide some small surprises and encouragement for your child, so that reading becomes interesting and exciting!
Clever use of "barrage annotations". We often say "don't read if you don't use pen and ink"! Indeed, holding a pen while reading and developing a good habit of sketching annotations is very beneficial to in-depth reading, which is also closely linked to the reading literacy required in primary school. It is worth noting that reading and annotating should complement each other, and do not interrupt your mind because of annotations, and annotate for the sake of annotation. It is recommended that the annotation be as simple and easy to make as possible: if you encounter "good words and sentences, you may wish to use your favorite symbols to circle the mark; When you encounter a deep feeling, you can initiate a barrage annotation in the blank space", that is, use short words and phrases to record doubts, mark resonance, and write down conjectures...... This kind of reading method of "thinking while reading and leaving a mark on the pen" is more time-saving than traditional excerpts and can better maintain the coherence of children's reading.
■ Step 3: Modeling
Let reading have a purpose and direction
When children's interest in reading grows, their reading habits develop, and their reading accumulation grows, we can encourage them to read with purpose and direction, complete the transition from passive to active, and continue to deepen their reading.
Thematic reading. After reading a book, encourage children to use the book as an anchor point to carry out thematic dragnet reading around its author, creative style, creative background, etc., to build a concentric circle of knowledge. For example, after children have finished learning the text "Luhua Shoes", they can be recommended to read Cao Wenxuan's "Bronze Sunflowers" from the perspective of close reading of the text. When children read chapters such as "Ice Necklace", they will discover the core proposition of Cao Wenxuan's "Aesthetics of Suffering" through the comparison of images. Going further, we can encourage children to systematically read Cao Wenxuan's "Grass House" and "Root Bird" from the perspective of writer's research...... Children can find that Cao Wenxuan's works often focus on the spiritual transformation of rural teenagers, and he is good at using natural imagery such as reeds and sunflowers to construct poetic rural spaces.
Subject-based reading. Some children are obsessed with the military legend of the Jin Ge Iron Horse, while others are fascinated by the scientific mysteries of the stars and the sea...... When children are enthusiastic about books in a certain subject, you may wish to encourage them to read massively and deeply along this path to form a chain of subject knowledge. For example, children who love history can read "If History is a Group of Meows" for beginners, "Chinese History for Children" for advanced reading, and "Those Things in the Ming Dynasty" and "Crossing the South and Returning to the North" for in-depth...... When children gradually read extensively and deeply in this subject area, their subject literacy will also be formed.
