The reporter learned that recently, some criminals have spread false news through the Internet platform that "the digital yuan bank is about to be listed", while carrying out fraudulent activities under the banner of "paid recruitment and promotion". Criminals use high returns and exchange discounts as bait to trick the public into "exchanging" the digital yuan from criminals. At the same time, through the development of downline, hierarchical commission and other methods, the construction of a pyramid scheme fraud network.

In addition to "paid recruitment and promotion", the reporter also sorted out some recent rumors and pitfalls about the digital yuan:

Fake pilot campaigns to carry out fraud

Attach a link to the fraudulent URL

Criminals pretended to be a pilot campaign and sent SMS messages to the public through informal channels such as "e-CNY pilot issuance, you can receive trial funds by registering in advance", and attached a link to the fraudulent website. After clicking on these links, the public is often induced to fill in sensitive information such as bank card passwords and SMS verification codes, download counterfeit e-CNY apps, and deposit more funds into the card, and then the criminals will quickly transfer the funds from the card.

Promote digital yuan investment transactions

Earn high returns

Criminals have set up projects such as "digital currency investment platforms" and "digital currency exchanges" in the name of digital yuan, claiming that they can invest to obtain high returns and attract public participation. Once the victim invests the money, the fraudster disappears.

Pretending to be a call from the public prosecutor's office

Trick users into clicking on fake links

Criminals pretend to be customer service personnel of public procuratorates, government agencies, banks or large e-commerce platforms, and use words such as "case investigation", "credit repair" and "refund" to gain trust, and exert psychological pressure with words such as "account freezing" and "affecting credit investigation" to induce users to click on fake links or download counterfeit e-CNY apps, fill in personal sensitive information or transfer money, causing financial losses.

Relevant people from the Digital Currency Research Institute of the People's Bank of China reminded that the digital yuan is a digital form of legal tender and has no room for speculation. The public should not believe rumors such as high commissions or high returns for speculation, so as not to leak sensitive personal information or participate in pyramid schemes, and avoid the loss of their own economic interests.
