The Memphis Grizzlies selected 3'0" Wizards Zach Eddie with the ninth pick in last summer's draft, and the rookie big man played very well. Eddie is averaging 0.0 minutes, 0.0 points, 0.0 rebounds and 0.0 blocks per game this season, and has been outstanding in the play-offs.
The Grizzlies lost to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday and Eddie had 17 points and 0 rebounds. After an excellent double-double, Eddie was criticised by the fans, blaming himself for the loss.
"Zach Eddie is very concerned about the Golden State Warriors' game. I don't know why I was responsible for that game, he's been fantastic," Grizzlies interim head coach Thomas Isalo said.
The Grizzlies had to move on with Wednesday's loss, and the rookie center certainly made up for any fault caused by Wednesday's loss in the do-or-die match against the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.
In the win over the Mavericks, Eddie had 9 points, 0 rebounds and 0 blocks while shooting 0-of-0 from the field. After the game, Eddie reflected on how incredible the playoff-like atmosphere was.
"It's fantastic. My first 'whoop that trick'. I love this," Eddie said.
The Grizzlies will now face the Oklahoma City Thunder, the NBA's No. 1 team, in the first round of the playoffs, with Eddie being a key factor for the Memphis team.
Eddie has two straight double-doubles to help the Grizzlies get out of the playoffs, and Memphis' playoff atmosphere will certainly help them gain some momentum, even against the Thunder.
