Chelsea fans have written to Richard Masters urging him to "act swiftly" over the "unauthorised" resale of Premier League tickets on Todd Boehly's co-owned website.

In an open letter to the chief executive of the world's richest league, the Chelsea Supporters' Trust accused Boehly of undermining the efforts of the Metropolitan Police, governing bodies and clubs to combat scalping, with the Daily Telegraph's sports section revealing a "breach of trust" and a "clear conflict of interest".

Nearly seven weeks after the Daily Telegraph's sports edition revealed that Boehly's US online marketplace Vivid Seats, which is both an investor and a director, allows foreign users to buy and sell Premier League tickets for up to tens of thousands of pounds, the CST board sent a letter to Masters.

It does not allow fans living in the UK to buy or sell tickets – the latter would be illegal – but its business model does raise the possibility of Chelsea co-owner Boehly profiting from an event that his own club has repeatedly denounced.

CST wrote: "CST is writing this letter because we have received a large number of letters from concerned CST members and wider Chelsea Football Club supporters, and this issue cannot be ignored.

"Since its inception, CST has been in regular dialogue with Chelsea Football Club (CFC), the Premier League (PL), the Football Supporters Association (FSA) and other key stakeholders on the ongoing fight against scalping and the illegal sale of tickets by third-party websites.

"To make matters worse, Vivid Seats is clearly listed on the Premier League website as a 'known unauthorised ticket site'. Many CST members were outraged by the connection, writing to tell us that Mr Burleigh's association with Vivid Seats was a 'breach of trust' and a 'clear conflict of interest'. ”

It added: "The director and part-owner of Chelsea Football Club, Mr Boehly's association with Vivid Seats is completely inappropriate and has seriously undermined the efforts of Chelsea Football Club, the Premier League and the Metropolitan Police to combat scalping." Mr Boehly has been contacted directly by CST to offer multiple opportunities to address fan concerns, both publicly and privately. Neither Mr. Burleigh nor his representative acted on it, and thousands of tickets were still for sale on the Vivid Seats website. CST strongly believes that the time has come for the Premier League to take action and investigate. We welcome your views on this matter as Premier League CEO and expect the Premier League to take this opportunity to act swiftly to ensure that major shareholders of Premier League clubs stop selling tickets at prices well above face value. ”

Boehly has not yet commented on CST's multiple complaints against Vivid Seats. "As a global business, we always respect and understand the local regulatory policies and procedures in place in any market to ensure we are compliant," Vivid Seats previously said in a statement.

"Our policy restricts UK sellers from selling EPL tickets. We can confirm that we do not have any UK sellers listing EPL stock on our marketplace. Vivid Seats did not and does not directly market or advertise Premier League tickets to UK customers.
