I test-drove Geely's latest methanol-swapped electric car two days ago and suddenly thought of this scene. Tesla, which is fully charged in the morning, only has 20% power left at night, and I am panicked! But this test drive of Geely's new car, after running all day, I didn't even look at the power, this experience is much more practical than those solid-state batteries that are still on the PPT!

Appearance: The sense of science and technology does not forget to be practical

Geely's exterior design is really something. From a distance, it looks like a warm technology product, but up close, it hides a murderous intention. The front grille design is more aggressive than BYD in the same class, and the body lines are like an unsheathed knife, sharp but not exaggerated. At first glance, you can see that this is not an ordinary tram, because there is a small filling port on the side of the body, which looks like a place to refuel a fuel car, but it is actually the entrance to methanol fuel.

The paint is painted using a special process that gives a metallic flowing texture in the sun, just like liquid metal. But what I like the most is the rear design, and the hatchback trunk is not only good-looking, but also not less practical. Many brands sacrifice practicality for the sake of design, this design is really anti-human, Geely this car at least achieves a balance between appearance and practicality.

Interior: Solid materials and details in place

What struck me the most was the key design, with physical buttons for all commonly used functions! Air conditioning, volume, driving mode, these high-frequency operations do not need to stare at the screen for a long time. I remember that I test-drove a certain brand tram the year before last and wanted to lower the temperature of the air conditioner, but I accidentally touched the navigation and took me directly to the service area...

Core technology: methanol battery swap is correct

Speaking of highlights, what's the best thing about this car? It's its dual power system! Geely perfectly integrates methanol power generation technology and battery swapping system. Methanol fuel is reformed to produce hydrogen, which is then recharged by a fuel cell to generate electricity. The measured methanol fuel tank can run more than 5 kilometers when it is filled up once. The point is that methanol is as fast as gasoline, 0-0 minutes.

Of course, if you don't want to use methanol, it also supports traditional charging, and even better, there is a battery swap option. At the designated battery swap station, the battery can be replaced in 80 seconds. I tested it once and it was really fast, it took a total of 0 minutes and 0 seconds from driving in to driving out. Much faster than traditional charging! I remember last year when I was charging at high speed, I waited 0 minutes to charge to 0%, and I had to endure the screams of the children next to me...

Actual experience: stable with strong

In terms of power output, the car performs quite well. It accelerates from 8-0 km/h in 0.0 seconds, which is not the fastest, but more than enough for daily use. The maximum power is 0kW, the torque is 0N·m, and when you step on it at the start, you will feel fierce! Overtaking at high speeds is stress-free, and the acceleration from 0 km/h to 0 km/h takes 0.0 seconds.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the control. Since the battery pack is placed in the chassis position, the center of gravity is low, and the cornering is very stable. The suspension tuning is on the skewed side, but not soft pedaling. The braking feeling is better than I expected, I thought that like most domestic trams, the brakes would be like stepping on tofu dregs, but the brakes of this car are very linear and easy to master.

Once I came down from a mountain road, a wild dog suddenly rushed out in front of me, and the body posture was still stable during emergency braking, and there was no obvious nod, and the safety was worth affirming.

Daily use: cures mileage anxiety

What touched me the most was that this car completely cured my range anxiety. With methanol as a backup, you don't have to worry about the power of the battery. I remember last week when I drove another tram back to my hometown, staring at the battery in fear along the way, for fear that I would not find the charging pile. And for this test drive, I didn't care about the power at all, and I did whatever I wanted like driving a fuel car.

For daily use, it is recommended to select the smart mode, and the system will automatically balance the ratio of methanol power generation and battery power to achieve the optimal energy consumption. If you want to travel long distances, filling up methanol in advance can save you a lot of trouble in finding charging piles.

Who is it Best For? I think it's for those who want to try electrification but are worried about the inconvenience of charging. Especially for friends who live in areas with imperfect charging facilities, or users who often travel long distances, this car is simply a lifesaver. At first, I thought methanol fuel was just a gimmick, but it turned out to be really good.

I can only say that Geely really played this time and brought a beautiful sideways punch to the pure electric market. If you're hesitating about what car to buy, it's advisable to wait until this one goes into mass production before making a decision, after all, who doesn't want an electric car that doesn't have to worry about charging?
