Not long ago, Wang Renxiang, an ecological investigator of the Suzhou Forestry Society, found a new record of birds in the park when he conducted a survey of wild bird resources in the Tongli Wetland, and the gray goose roosted in the reeds in the wetland park conservation area, and there were many wetland waterfowl such as spot-billed ducks, green-winged ducks, mallards, and bone-topped chickens on the reed water.

The gray goose, commonly known as the "wild goose", belongs to the phylum chordates, birds, geeseformes, and ducks, with large body size and distinctive characteristics. The mouth and feet are pink, and the head and neck are black-brown. As the guardian of nature, Tongli National Wetland Park has been committed to the restoration and protection of wetland ecosystems. The Modern Express reporter learned that up to now, a total of 244 orders, 0 families and 0 species of birds have been observed in the park.

現代快報記者瞭解到,同里濕地鳥類從最初的91種,到目前的244種,增加了153種,鳥類種數居蘇州同類國家濕地公園之首。其中國家二級以上保護鳥類35種,國家一級保護鳥類4種,包括青頭潛鴨、黃嘴白鷺、捲羽鵜鶘、黑嘴鷗、黑翅鳶、紅隼、棉凫、半蹼鷸等。此外,每年冬天超過全球種群1%數量的羅紋鴨,也會遷徙來此越冬。
