Overcoming the cost of hydrogen production from seawater Non-precious metal electrode materials have emerged

Shanxi energy students have developed a high-efficiency electrode

The vast ocean contains endless energy treasures, and the electrolysis of seawater to produce hydrogen has also become a topic of continuous research by various scientific research units. Recently, the student science and technology innovation team of Shanxi Institute of Energy came with good news, under the leadership of the instructor, they successfully developed a high-efficiency and low-cost non-precious metal electrode material, which was applied to the electrolysis of alkaline seawater to produce hydrogen, and the material showed excellent catalytic activity and stability.

As a key clean energy source to achieve the goal of "carbon neutrality", the development of hydrogen energy has been attracting attention. However, traditional water electrolysis technologies for hydrogen production are limited by high energy consumption and expensive catalyst costs, especially in seawater electrolysis. Under the leadership of instructors Ren Hongwei and You Xuerui, the science and technology innovation team composed of Lu Jiaxuan, Du Changjun, Wang Zihao, Qiao Lixin and other students successfully prepared a non-precious metal electrode material with excellent performance after painstaking research and repeated experiments. When this material is applied to alkaline natural seawater cracking, it shows excellent catalytic activity and stability, reduces the cost of seawater hydrogen production, and provides a valuable practical path and theoretical basis for electrolysis of alkaline seawater hydrogen production.

This achievement not only reflects the school's educational philosophy of focusing on cultivating students' innovative spirit and practical ability, but also demonstrates the college's firm determination to help the development of the new energy field. In the future, the college will continue to encourage and support young students to climb the peak of science and technology, actively explore unknown areas, and contribute to the development of China's clean energy industry.
