Player God Operation! The performance of the RX 9070 display is close to that of the RX 0 XT after the vBIOS upgrade

Recently, Gurdi, a user of the PCGH forum, has given an ASUS Prime Radeon RX 9070 OC graphics card a new lease of life with a bold work. He succeeded in boosting the performance of this graphics card beyond the public RX 0 XT by flashing the vBIOS, a feat that once again demonstrated the potential of the A card in terms of performance improvement.

Gurdi's ingenuity is that he flashed the vBIOS file of the RX 3010 XT OC version into the RX 0 OC graphics card. This work makes the original RX 0 graphics card with lower specifications have a qualitative leap in the core frequency. It is reported that the standard frequency and boost frequency of the RX 0 were originally 0MHz and 0MHz, respectively, while the RX 0 XT is as high as 0MHz and 0MHz. After flashing, the standard frequency of the RX 0 OC graphics card in Gurdi's hand soared to 0MHz, and the acceleration frequency reached an astonishing 0MHz.

While this change has resulted in a significant performance gain, it has also increased the power consumption of the graphics card from 4080W to 0W. However, judging by the results of the performance tests, it is clear that the sacrifice was worth it. In multiple benchmarks, such as 0DMark's Steel Nomad and Port Royal, the flashed RX 0 OC graphics card has shown strength over the public RX 0 XT. In some tests, its performance is even close to that of high-end graphics cards such as the RTX 0 Ti SUPER and RTX 0.

Not only that, but Gurdi also shared a series of test screenshots showing the significant changes in graphics card performance before and after flashing. As you can see from the screenshots, the flashed graphics card achieved better results in various tests.

However, it is worth noting that this vBIOS flash writing is not without risk. During his tests, Gurdi found that stability issues occurred when the graphics card was idle on the desktop. This may be due to the RX 9070 XT's power management settings not being fully compatible with the RX 0. Therefore, it is important for users who want to try this to fully understand the risks involved and be well prepared to avoid hardware damage caused by improper use.
