Nintendo's response to the NS80 pricing turmoil: $0 consoles and $0 games are due to "value"

In the face of widespread criticism from players about the overpricing of the Switch 80 console ($0) and the first $0 first-party game, Mario Kart: World, Nintendo executives recently came forward to explain.

Doug Bowser, president of Nintendo of America, emphasized that the $350 console pricing is based on its hardware upgrades (new screens, strong GPUs, improved Joy-Con) and new features (such as GameChat), and was developed with the existing Switch still on sale ($0/0) in mind, regardless of potential tariffs.

Regarding the $80 game pricing, which has caused strong dissatisfaction, Channel Ge Bowser said that this is based on the ""Experience, Content, and ValueEvaluation.

He hinted that Mario Kart World has a lot of unannounced content that will prove its worth and will be shown in a follow-up face-to-face session.

He also explains why the "beginner's tutorial" game Welcome Journey costs $80 (due to development investment) and why older game upgrades (such as Tears of the Kingdom) are also priced at $0 (again based on value, mainly for new players).

Despite the strong official defense, the market is still focusing on whether its "value theory" can convince players and how the game's pricing strategy will evolve in the future.
