According to a Chromium post spotted by Windows Latest, Gemini in Chrome is named "Glic" and is able to be resized just like Copilot in Edge. Not only that, but Gemini can also be separated from Google Chrome and come as a standalone sidebar on Windows 11, and this standalone sidebar can also be resized.

Keren Zhu, a Chrome engineer at Google, mentioned that Google refers to the Gemini sidebar in Chrome as a "widget" for an unclear reason, perhaps due to the fact that when you click a button in the Chrome menu, it appears as a floating window. In addition, Google is making a change to the Gemini sidebar so that its widgets no longer have a translucent effect.

It's unclear whether this non-translucent widget appears inside Google Chrome or outside Chrome after clicking the Gemini button on the taskbar. Google says this is a requirement for Windows resizable windows, so it may be referring to widgets inside the browser.

According to IT House, users can access Chrome's Gemini in the form of a sidebar from the task bar. What can be confirmed is that Gemini will be a sidebar or widget in Chrome that will be able to be resized, and that users can detach from Chrome and access it through task columns, reminiscent of Copilot in the original Windows 11.

In addition, users can open Gemini in Chrome via customizable keyboard shortcuts in the browser settings.
