據介紹，清華大學於2021年初成立“求真書院”，由著名數學家丘成桐先生擔任創始院長，致力於培養中國科學界的“將才”，引領和帶動中國乃至世界數學、理論物理等基礎學科領域的發展。丘成桐少年班是由丘成桐先生倡導設計的人才培養專案，目前，江蘇有南京外國語學校、南京市第一中學、江蘇省南通中學、江蘇省蘇州中學校、江蘇省天一中學5所學校被授權開設了“丘成桐少年班”。

為提升中學階段頂尖數學人才的培養品質，丘成桐倡導設立的“傑出少年示範數學班”於去年11月開班。目前，示範班專案在北京市和上海市先期開展。“傑出少年示範數學班”是否會落地南京？丘成桐表示，目前也在考慮當中。“希望江蘇的孩子，志向要更崇高一點，為人類、為國家把基礎學問做好，貢獻更多力量。”丘成桐寄語江蘇學子。
