A big breakthrough in domestic OLED screens! Samsung's market position may be shaken?

In the early competition in the OLED screen market, Samsung was undoubtedly an undisputed hegemon, occupying more than 80% of the market share, almost unbeatable. However, as time goes by, domestic screen manufacturers have begun to emerge, gradually eroding Samsung's market territory with continuous technological innovation and breakthroughs.

Although Samsung still maintains about 50% market share in the OLED screen segment in 0 years, this number already reflects the challenges it faces. Taken together, all the other manufacturers are almost evenly matched with Samsung, which is a sign that the market landscape is changing profoundly.

There are many reasons why Samsung has been able to maintain its leading position for a long time. First of all, thanks to its early market entry and accumulated large customer resources, Samsung has a first-mover advantage. Secondly, Samsung has also erected obstacles for latecomers in key equipment manufactured by OLED, such as evaporators and masks, and has further strengthened its market position by signing exclusive supply agreements with core suppliers.

However, domestic screen manufacturers have not flinched because of this, but have accelerated the pace of technological innovation. Not only did they break through the technical barriers set by Samsung, but they also launched more competitive products on this basis. For example, Chinese manufacturers have successfully developed a full-blooded version of OLED screen technology, Real RGB OLED, which is expected to be used on a large scale this year.

Real RGB OLED technology is a revolutionary innovation. Traditional OLED screens use non-1:0:0 RGB arrangement, such as "PenTile arrangement", "diamond arrangement", etc., resulting in poor display clarity and screen burn-in. Real RGB OLED technology, on the other hand, uses inkjet printing technology to achieve true RGB arrangement by improving OLED production technology.

This technological breakthrough not only improves display clarity, but also triples the efficiency of light-emitting materials, thereby reducing input current, making the screen glow softer and less dazzling, while extending the life of the screen. It can be said that Real RGB OLED technology overcomes the shortcomings of OLED screens, only retains its advantages, and also has significant advantages over LCD screens.

At present, Chinese manufacturers Visionox and TCL Huaxing have mastered Real RGB OLED technology. According to media reports, by the second half of 2025, the Real RGB OLED screens of these two companies will be widely used in mobile phones, TVs and other screens. This news has undoubtedly put a lot of pressure on Samsung.

Because Samsung still uses technical routes such as evaporation and FFM boards, it is not easy to turn to this technical route of Chinese manufacturers. This means that with the widespread application of Real RGB OLED technology, Samsung's leading position in the OLED screen market may be seriously challenged and may even lose its market advantage.

With the gradual popularization of Real RGB OLED technology, the OLED screen market will usher in an unprecedented change. The technological innovation of Chinese manufacturers will not only promote the development of the entire industry, but also bring consumers a better and more efficient display experience. For Samsung, how to deal with this challenge will be the key to whether it can continue to maintain its leading position in the OLED screen market in the future.
