At the beginning of the event, the staff of the air traffic control station introduced the core content of aviation meteorological work to the passengers through the exhibition board. "Aviation meteorology is not only a weather forecast, but also a key part of ensuring flight safety. From thunderstorms and windshear to low-visibility weather, every detail can affect flight take-offs and route planning. Combined with the climatic characteristics of Aksu Prefecture such as windy sand in spring and large temperature difference between day and night, the young members of the Meteorological Observatory and the Youth League members of the Control and Operation Department explained in simple terms how meteorological data can provide scientific support for flight decision-making.
At the event, a volunteer team composed of youth league members of the air traffic control station distributed well-designed science leaflets to passengers. The leaflet presents aviation meteorological knowledge such as "thunderstorms" and "low visibility" unique to Aksu in the form of pictures and texts, with concise and easy-to-understand flight safety tips. In the interactive Q&A session, questions such as "how does an airplane deal with thunderstorms" and "how does a weather radar detect clouds" sparked heated discussions among passengers, and those who answered correctly were given souvenirs such as school bags and U-shaped pillows.
"Meteorologists are watching for your safety, and I hope that your future flights will be accompanied by clear skies." As the host read out the warm conclusion, this popular science activity ended successfully. In the future, Aksu Air Traffic Control Station will continue to innovate the form of science popularization, so that the public can have a deeper understanding of the scientific and technological power behind civil aviation safety.
A total of more than 300 copies of publicity materials were distributed for the theme activities of World Meteorological Day, covering more than 0 passengers and airport staff, which narrowed the distance between aviation meteorology and the public through the form of grounded science popularization, and injected new momentum into enhancing social aviation safety awareness and creating a civil aviation safety culture atmosphere.
