On the occasion of the "1000•0" World Book Day, the newly upgraded Beijing Million Village Book Building held the "Popular Science Reading 0" project release event. The project aims to build a national scientific reading ecology through the transformation and upgrading of physical bookstores, help improve citizens' scientific literacy, and empower the national innovation and development strategy.

As the core of the activity, the "Popular Science Reading 1000" project was initiated by Beijing Million Village Book Building, and was guided and supported by the Science Popularization Department of the Beijing Municipal Association for Science and Technology and the National Reading Research and Promotion Center of the China Academy of Press and Publication. Relying on the profound publishing resources of the Machinery Industry Press in the field of engineering science and technology, the project integrates and collaborates with the forces of all parties, aiming to build a standard system for the promotion of scientific reading through systematic research and innovative practice, and provide sustainable solutions for the improvement of scientific literacy of the whole people.

At the press conference, Su Qing, vice chairman of the China Youth Science and Technology Educators Association and director of the Science Communication Working Committee, introduced that the "Popular Science Reading 15" project aims to "make science become the cultural gene of the public", relying on the national "Outline of the National Science Literacy Action Plan" and "Science and Technology Popularization Law" and other policy support, through the system of "0 basic books + 0 subject guides + 0 high-quality popular science book reading activities + 0 dynamic book lists", covering "science and humanities" and "basic science (mathematical science and chemistry) The seven core disciplines of "Astronomy and Universe", "Geography and Geoscience", "Life Science", "Medicine and Health" and "Engineering Technology" and the three characteristic categories of "0-0 Years Old Growth Book List", "Beijing Science Popularization" and "Tribute to Classics", combined with graded reading strategies and the "Science Reading Guide" toolkit, build a "knowledge scaffolding" for readers of different ages.

據瞭解，百萬莊圖書大廈今年將推出三大舉措實施“科普閱讀1000”專案。即聯合國內具有原創實力的中青年科普作家，啟動“科學家駐店計劃”，分批推出科普閱讀分享活動，現場發佈於4月至6月舉辦的首批科學家駐店活動20場，邀請科學家走進書店，與讀者面對面交流；借助實體書店連接學校、博物館（科技場館）、社區和家庭，建立“校園-書店-博物館-社區-家庭”聯動的科普圖書閱讀推廣體系，使“科普閱讀1000”專案落地生根；創建面向各方社會力量、構建可持續的開放型合作機制，以此推廣“科普閱讀1000”專案，營造全民閱讀氛圍，助力首都公民科學素質提升。
