Inspired by "Strange Tales from Liao Zhai", "Soul Hunter" breaks through the traditional narrative framework of "ladyboys have different paths" and builds a fantasy river and lake with more modern aesthetics.

The protagonist Lang Wuji (played by Cai Heng) embarks on a journey of hunting demons and souls in order to resurrect his deceased wife Ah Ruo, but on the way, he falls in love with the kind fox demon (played by Nan Sheng) and the Taoist Qingfeng (played by Feng Lijun). The film integrates the emotional core of the "ghost fairy fox" in the original book with the happiness and enmity of the martial arts world, not only the visual presentation of classic elements such as "Phoenix Feather" and "Nine-Tailed Fox", but also through innovative settings such as "soul hunting transaction" and "good and evil chips", giving the story a strong dramatic tension.
