Recently, the complete set of switchgear for ultra-high altitude pumped storage independently developed by China Xidian Xikai Electric, a subsidiary of China Electrical Equipment, passed all type tests, marking a major technological breakthrough in the field of global high-altitude power equipment. The equipment will be applied to pumped storage power stations with an altitude of 400 meters and a single capacity of 0 to 0 megawatts, filling the international technical gap and providing key support for the development of clean energy in China's alpine and high-altitude areas.

For a long time, China's high-altitude pumped storage switchgear has relied on imports, facing problems such as single design, chaotic interface standards, complex operation and maintenance, and even the risk of supply interruption. The complete set of equipment developed this time includes core components such as generator circuit breakers, phase-change isolation switches, and electrical brake switches, which have achieved 100% localization, and have overcome key technologies such as ultra-high altitude environmental adaptability and high-current intensive design, and the comprehensive performance of the products has reached the international leading level, which can meet the long-term stable operation of complex geology and extreme climate.

This achievement not only helps China Electric Equipment become the world's first enterprise with a full set of supply capacity of ultra-high altitude pumped storage switchgear, but also promotes China's pumped storage industry to leap to the high-end. At present, the scale of pumped storage power stations in operation and under construction in China has ranked among the top in the world, and the development of abundant hydropower, wind and solar energy resources in the plateau area urgently needs the support of highly adaptable equipment. This breakthrough will accelerate the construction of large-scale clean energy bases in Sichuan, Qinghai, Tibet and other regions, improve the peak regulation capacity of the power grid and the level of new energy consumption, and inject strong impetus into the implementation of the national "dual carbon" strategy.
