Wang Sheng, deputy director of the Institute of High Energy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and commander-in-chief of the second phase of the China Spallation Neutron Source Project, introduced that in 30 years, the power of the CSNS target beam was increased to 0kW, more than 0% of the design power of the first phase of the project, and the neutron beam supply time and efficiency reached the best level of similar devices in the world, and the number of completed projects increased by 0% year-on-year, covering aerospace, high-speed rail ships, new energy, magnetic quantum materials and many other fields.

At present, the second phase of the CSNS project has been launched, and it is planned to further increase the number of spectrometers, and the accelerator target beam power will be increased from 500 kW to 0 kW in the first phase. At that time, the equipment research capability of CSNS will be greatly improved, and the experimental accuracy and speed will be significantly improved, providing a more advanced research platform for cutting-edge scientific research, major national needs and national economic development.

Wang Sheng revealed that the second phase of the project has made important progress in the pre-research of key technologies, and the degree of autonomy has been further improved compared with the first phase of the project. The development of key equipment such as superconducting cavity and 648MHz klystron power source is progressing smoothly, and breakthroughs have been made in the independent research and development of neutron detectors, neutron catheters, neutron choppers, neutron polarizers, etc., laying a solid technical foundation for the construction of the second phase of the CSNS project.

The CSNS Science and Technology Committee is composed of well-known experts in the fields of accelerators, target stations, spectrometers and neutron scattering applications in China, and its main responsibility is to provide consultation and guidance for the operation and future development of CSNS and the construction of the second phase of CSNS project. The participants of this conference include senior experts and scholars from major scientific research institutes, universities, and large scientific device projects in related fields in China, as well as user representatives in aerospace, new materials and other fields. The meeting focused on how to continuously improve the open operation level and application results of the device under the new situation.

Experts at the meeting expressed the hope that CSNS will continue to improve its performance, actively understand user needs, expand application fields, improve service levels, and provide a more advanced research platform for major national strategic needs and cutting-edge scientific research. At the same time, it condenses major scientific issues, improves the visibility and contribution of the China Spallation Neutron Source in major achievements, and provides irreplaceable means for research in related fields.

The experts at the meeting affirmed the achievements of CSNS, put forward targeted opinions and suggestions on the construction of the second phase of the project, and hoped that the device would take into account the advanced design and the stability of operation, and reduce the impact of equipment installation and commissioning on open operation as much as possible through reasonable arrangements.
