If one day you are unfortunate enough to be diagnosed with cancer, how will you live the rest of your life? The documentary film "Lao Yang and His Nandong Block" will tell you that the road to fighting cancer is not all darkness and pain, it can also be full of warmth, laughter, and even some romance.

This documentary film directed by Zheng Yue and planned by Chen Lina takes Lao Yang (full name Yang Xinhua), who once suffered from stomach cancer and later joined the Shanghai Cancer Rehabilitation Club and served as the "block chief" of Nanjing East Road, as the protagonist, telling the touching story of leading cancer patients to stay warm, and insisting on doing public welfare and serving others.

On the street of Nanjing East Road near the Bund in Shanghai, there is the Yellow River Road walked by Ah Bao in the TV series "Flowers", the growth and challenges under the wave of change of the times, and the most simple and touching anti-cancer stories. The film does not have a single commentary, but adopts a presentation method similar to "white drawing", linking the film with reality and writing the real situation of Lao Yang and his cancer friend.

As a documentary film on the theme of anti-cancer, "Lao Yang and His Nandong Block" uses the "power of contrast" to amplify laughter and singing, compress tears and pain, tell the story of fighting cancer in a more relaxed tone, and use a warm and romantic "battle" to ignite the light of hope in the darkness, giving the audience, especially cancer patients, the strength to live.
