The film depicts the wrestling between drug traffickers and anti-drug activists caused by an explosion, and the social chaos that results from it. Although the story is set in Hong Kong, director Mak Junlong hopes to build a "half-empty" world in the film through a variety of designs and contrasts.
《風林火山》是麥浚龍繼《殭屍》之後第二部導演作品，由梁家輝、金城武、劉青雲、古天樂、高圓圓、姜珮瑤、衛詩雅等出演，影片於 2017 年開拍，2018 年 3 月宣佈殺青，影片曾在 2025 年柏林電影節期間亮相，有望年內上映。
