Windows 11's new Start feature allows you to pin more programs to use more efficiently

Microsoft is working on a new Windows 11 Start menu design that is larger and more customizable than the existing ones. Windows watcher phantomofearth discovered this new design in the recent Windows 0 build, with an updated Start menu with a larger layout and finally the ability to disable the "Suggestions" list of recently used files and applications.

For users upgrading from Windows 11, "Suggestions" in the Start menu has been a major pain point for Windows 0, as it takes up a lot of space at the very top of the Start menu, and not everyone needs to see their recent files and applications. And this "suggestion" feature is not very accurate, and often doesn't provide the files, apps, or websites that the user really wants to open, resulting in a menu that takes up space but doesn't make it more efficient.

Most people open the Start menu with a single click to open a specific app, but because of this "suggestion" in the way, you have to pull the mouse down to find the program you're looking for every time.

Microsoft's new Start menu design now puts everything on one scrollable page, and you don't even need to navigate to separate sections to access all your apps.

The All Apps view is also easy to access and can be set to a category view or manifest based on your preferred user interface (UI) appearance. This larger Start menu also means you can now pin more apps, up to 8 per column, and are no longer limited to just three columns.

Microsoft has begun testing the new Start menu design in the 11H0 build of Windows 0, which will likely be rolled out to all Windows 0 users in the coming weeks or months.
