On the bank of the Luoshui River, a fairy combs the cloud bun high, Ling Bo walks slightly, and the clothes are fluttering...... This wonderful cultural journey does not come from a professional 3D theater, but an immersive digital exhibition launched by the Liaoning Provincial Museum, "Tang and Song Fenghua - Art World in Digital Painting" (hereinafter referred to as "Tang and Song Fenghua").

Through the empowerment of digital technology, the Liaoning Provincial Museum innovates the exhibition form, allowing the audience to "walk" into ancient calligraphy and painting, and immerse themselves in the thick context of cultural relics.

Incarnated as a white crane looking at mountains and rivers, 6 hand-me-down paintings moved

In the "Tang and Song Dynasty Elegance" Luoshui Yiren area, the audience can lie on the sofa, look up at the dome, and immerse themselves in the digital painting of "Luo Shen Futu".

The original work of "Luo Shen Futu" is said to be made by Gu Kaizhi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, but it has been lost, and the Liaoning Provincial Museum exhibits a copy of the Song Dynasty. "We extracted elements from "Luo Shen Futu", and presented the story of Cao Zhi and Luo Shen from meeting to separation on the dome curtain through secondary creation, so that the audience can immerse themselves in this story." Dong Baohou, deputy director of the Liaoning Provincial Museum, said.

It's not just "Roselle Pictures".

Wearing VR (virtual reality) glasses, you can incarnate a white crane soaring into the world, flying to Bianjing, the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty, just on the occasion of the Shangyuan Festival, the colorful clouds fluttering in the sky above the Xuande Gate, and the crane soaring and dancing...... "I saw the mountains and rivers of the Song Dynasty, it was really amazing!" Said one viewer.

The Liaoning Provincial Museum took out 6 paintings from the Tang and Song dynasties, including "Luo Shen Fu Tu", "Lady of the Kingdom of Qiu", "Autumn Window Reading Easy Map", "Hairpin Lady", "Xiajing Mountain Pass to be Crossed", "Ruihe Tu", etc., and brought a visual spectacle to the audience through ultra-high-definition and immersive digital space.

"Through holographic projection, virtual reality, augmented reality, interactive games, etc., the exhibition not only restores the beauty of the original work, but also reproduces the grand scene at that time, and the audience seems to be walking in time and space." Dong Baohou introduced that the exhibition set up a total of 10 areas, including the Luoshen Futu Animation Exhibition Area, the Luoshui Yiren Area, the Luoyi Twilight Spring Area, the Autumn Window Reading Area, and the Yunshang Flower Rong Area.

"The immersive experience greatly enhances the audience's sense of participation and substitution, makes the history and culture more vivid and intuitive, and also allows the audience to feel the charm of the combination of traditional art and modern technology." Dong Baohou said.

Artifacts also need to be "dormant". "In order to better protect cultural relics, each cultural relics in the collection has a corresponding 'dormant period', and there is only 3 months of exhibition period in 0 years." Dong Baohou introduced.

So, how to balance the protection of cultural relics with the needs of visitors? Digital applications provide new ideas for curation.

Distant mountains and trees, the study is near the water, the green pine leaves outside the courtyard are lush, the frost maple and red leaves in the courtyard, I see a person sitting alone in front of the window to read, and the scholar is standing outside the door...... In the animation display area of "Reading Easy Pictures in Autumn Window", the main screen and environmental screen show the layers of the original painting scene.

Through the digital exhibition, the audience can obtain more information about the cultural relics and learn more about the cultural relics. "This is a small painting by Liu Songnian, a court painter in the Southern Song Dynasty, but through digital presentation, the audience can see many details such as structure and technique, which is difficult to do in traditional exhibitions." Dong Baohou said that the paintings are presented in a new and dynamic form, and the changes of light and shadow set off their charm and artistic conception, enhance the artistic appeal, and further amplify and strengthen the artistic charm of the works.

The digital application of "painting appreciation + interactive experience" strengthens the experience of the exhibition. In the "Shangyuan Festival" album part of the fairy bird Xurui District, the audience can experience shadow puppetry, iron flowers, guessing lantern riddles, lantern lanterns and other ancient interactive games through the linkage between mobile phones and exhibition hall screens...... There are countless cultural beauties hidden behind the cultural relics, which are worth the audience to experience and savor slowly.

It has always been Dong Baohou's wish to let the collection go out of the Liaoning Provincial Museum. "With digital presentation means and digital exhibition halls, we can tour major museums across the country, allowing audiences from all over the world to enjoy the precious collections of the Liaoning Provincial Museum at their doorstep." Dong Baohou said.

From exhibition digitization to digital exhibition, let the audience better dialogue with history

In recent years, the Liaoning Provincial Museum has continued to explore the digital transformation of online and offline to make cultural relics "move" and "live".

At the site of "Blue and White Charm - Yuan Blue and White Porcelain Exhibition", there is a three-dimensional digital display. The audience only needs to tap the touch screen, and a piece of Yuan blue and white porcelain treasured in other museums will appear on the screen, and the audience can not only understand the "past and present life" of this artifact through the screen, but also flip and zoom the porcelain at will at 360 degrees to view local details.

In the "Harmony in China" special exhibition, visitors can also be immersed in a digital space and get up close and personal with cultural relics. On the large digital screen, a dynamic picture of the "Flat Boat Proud" is on display: on the shore near the water, on a flat boat, the captain gently rocks the oars, and the white-haired old man sits firmly in the boat, and with the continuous rowing of the oars, the whole boat is finally fully presented in the picture. People are in front of the screen, as if swimming in the middle of a painting.

"From the partial part of the exhibition hall, the digitization of a cultural relic, to the current digital panoramic display of 'Tang and Song Fenghua', the Liaoning Provincial Museum has realized the transformation from digital exhibition to digital exhibition." Dong Baohou said that the audience can feel the historical value behind the cultural relics in the bustling market or in the poetic landscape, arousing the awe of history and the love of culture.

"The digital exhibition has built a dialogue scene between the audience and history, and the 'two-wheel drive' of culture and technology has outlined a broad prospect for the high-quality development of the field of culture and museums." Wang Xiaowen, director of the Liaoning Provincial Museum, said.
