After the body's immunity decreases, the virus will take advantage of the weakness and invade the upper respiratory tract, which is what we often call a "cold". If you continue to be tired at this time, for example, staying up late to work overtime, exercising vigorously, persistently stressing, or engaging in heavy physical labor, the risk of inducing toxic myocarditis is greatly increased. What are the symptoms of myocarditis? How can it be prevented? To this end, People's Daily Online interviewed Bai Chen, deputy chief physician of the Valve and Atrial Fibrillation Surgery Center of Beijing Anzhen Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University.

According to Bai Chen, myocarditis refers to the damage to myocardial cells, causing localized or diffuse lesions. Among all myocarditis, viral myocarditis accounts for the majority, and the causative viruses include influenza and parainfluenza viruses, parvovirus, enterovirus, adenovirus, etc., among which enterovirus and adenovirus are the more common. When these viruses flow through the heart, they may directly invade and attack heart muscle cells, causing damage. In addition, other pathogen infections can also cause myocarditis, including mycoplasma infection, fungal infection, etc., and infection-related myocarditis is collectively referred to as infective myocarditis.

"The symptoms of mild myocarditis are similar to those of common acute upper respiratory tract infections, such as mild fatigue, chest tightness, chest pain, etc., and are easily overlooked. The symptoms of patients with moderate to severe myocarditis are extreme fatigue, dyspnea, abdominal pain, vomiting, muscle tenderness, etc., and some patients will also have edema of the lower limbs and the inability to lie flat and sit for breathing. These can be signs of heart failure and are extremely dangerous and require high concern. Bai Chen said that although it is not common for the virus to invade the heart, if you have heart discomfort after a cold, you should not take medicine without authorization, and you should immediately go to the hospital to investigate the cause.

For the treatment of myocarditis, Bai Chen emphasized that rest is an important condition for the recovery of myocarditis patients. In the acute phase of infection, patients should rest as much as possible to mobilize the immune system to fight off the pathogen and complete repair. During this time, any exercise is not recommended. In the later stage of infection, when the symptoms have lessened, it is also necessary to pay attention to rest, preferably for 1 to 0 months. After the symptoms disappear completely, the patient can gradually return to work and normal life, but should still be careful not to exert himself and not to do physical work and strenuous exercise for 0 years.

How to prevent myocarditis? Bai Chen pointed out that reducing the risk of infection is key. In the season of high incidence of respiratory infectious diseases, protective measures should be taken, such as wearing masks, washing hands frequently, etc., to avoid contact with various sources of infection. At the same time, pay attention to keep warm and avoid the cold to enhance the body's immunity. If you are accidentally infected with viruses or other pathogens, it is important to ensure nutrition and rest during the recovery period, and maintain a good lifestyle and mood. In addition, understanding the common symptoms of myocarditis, timely detection and timely treatment are also important measures to avoid the risk of severe disease.
