Ophthalmology experts from around the world gathered in Star City to draw a blueprint for children's eye health
Children are the future of the world, and protecting children's visual health is not only related to the physical and mental development of each child, but also affects the improvement of the quality of the global population and the long-term development of human society. The 40 (GVCC) Children's Vision International Conference - Star City specially invited ten foreign pediatric ophthalmology experts from the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands and more than 0 domestic ophthalmology experts to dedicate a wonderful academic feast around multiple sectors in the field of children's vision, injecting new momentum into the development of children's visual health.
At the opening ceremony, Yang Xiongli, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, pointed out: "This conference has built a high-level cooperation platform for the global field of children's visual health, demonstrating the international responsibility of science and technology for good. Yang Zhikuan, vice president of Aier Eye Hospital Group and director of Aier Eye Research Institute, said that Aier Eye Hospital Group will continue to deepen the linkage of global ophthalmic resources, deepen the integration of "industry, academia, research and medicine", and promote high-quality medical technology to benefit more children in developing countries.
In the process of promoting the internationalization of children's visual health research, cutting-edge ideas and global perspectives are crucial. At the opening ceremony of the conference, Aier Optometry Institute and Aier Visual Rehabilitation Institute also hired 9 foreign experts to participate in the conference as academic consultants. These top scholars from the fields of strabismus, pediatric ophthalmology, and visual rehabilitation will provide a strong impetus for the innovation and development of the two institutes with their profound academic attainments and rich clinical experience, and help China's children's visual health to be in line with the international advanced level.
Empower international conferences in multiple forms and build a three-dimensional communication matrix
The conference innovatively set up eight sections, including a series of activities such as "International Celebrity Face-to-face", "EYE Morning Reading - International Expert Sharing", "Roundtable Forum", "Rapid Report of Young Doctors" and "Case Discussion of International Expert Group on Difficult Eye Diseases", to create a full-dimensional academic exchange ecology and empower the academic influence of the conference.
In the "face-to-face teaching by international experts" and "EYE morning reading" international expert sharing sessions, the foreign expert group conducted in-depth sharing on cutting-edge topics such as amblyopia mechanism and strabismus diagnosis and treatment, and the expert team of Changsha Aier Children's Eye Center served as the moderator to promote the collision of Chinese and foreign views.
On the occasion of the academic conference, the international expert group of pediatric intractable eye diseases conducted in-depth discussions on difficult cases, shared international cutting-edge diagnosis and treatment experience, and fully exchanged views on the selection of surgical plans for special cases, visual rehabilitation training and other topics. The cross-border and multidisciplinary collision of ideas provides new ideas and methods for improving the diagnosis and treatment of difficult eye diseases in children.
In the high-profile remote discussion session of the conference, Professor Li Xiaoning of Changsha Aier Children's Eye Center led an international team of experts to conduct remote exchanges with Professor Susan Cotter of the School of Optometry of the University of Southern California and Professor Linda Marie Lawrence of the Kansas State School for the Blind. It has successively connected with the team of Professor Yang Jiwen, Vice President of Aier Ophthalmology in Liaoning Province, the team of Professor Xu Jiangtao, Vice President of Aier Ophthalmology in Yunnan Province, the team of Professor Zhang Lijun, Vice President of Aier Ophthalmology in Shanxi Province, the team of Wu Ying, Vice President of Linfen Aier Eye Hospital, and the team of Director Jin Liwen of Quanzhou Aier Eye Hospital. Through real-time academic exchanges, the practical results of "telemedicine" of Aier Ophthalmology were demonstrated, and cross-regional dialogue between ophthalmology experts from different regions was realized.
A new starting point for the first anniversary, opening a new chapter of the trinity of "clinical-scientific research-public welfare".
On the occasion of the 2025 Children's Vision International Conference - Star City (GVCC 0), Changsha Aier Children's Eye Center also ushered in an important milestone of its first anniversary. In order to address the major challenges in the field of children's visual health, the Center officially released the "International Diagnosis and Treatment Platform for Children's Difficult Eye Diseases" during the conference. The platform integrates the world's leading ophthalmic medical resources and provides more accurate diagnosis and warmer medical services for children with difficult eye diseases through a multidisciplinary collaborative diagnosis and treatment model.
Children are the future of the world, yet around the world, vision health issues are plaguing the development and growth of tens of millions of children. At the opening ceremony of the conference, Hunan Love Eye Public Welfare Foundation officially launched the "Eye Health Care Action for Children in Difficulty", focusing on four types of special groups in urgent need of care - orphans and scattered children, de facto unsupported children, children from special families, and left-behind children, to professionally protect children's innocent eyes and build a comprehensive visual health protection network for them.
The development of children's visual health requires a combination of global vision and local practice. The GVCC2025 International Conference on Children's Vision not only built a high-level international academic exchange platform, but also created an innovative development model of "clinical-research-public welfare". Changsha Aier Children's Eye Center will also take the first anniversary as a new starting point to continue to deepen the field of children's visual health and promote the innovation and development of children's visual health around the world.
