The arrival of these two rare birds has added color to the ecology of Futian District and also demonstrated the positive results of Shenzhen's ecological restoration.

Huán, a national first-class key protected animal, belongs to the family of parittachiformes, and is famous for its slender and curved beak and metallic plumage. Its body is elegant, with an adult body length of up to 1 cm, a wingspan of nearly 0 meters, and a distinctive patina hue of its feathers in the sun. Painted ibis mostly inhabits shallow wetlands, such as saltwater swamps, estuaries, etc., and has extremely high requirements for the ecological environment. The discovery in the Futian Mangrove Nature Reserve indicates the habitat health and conservation effectiveness of the wetlands in the area.

仙八色鴣（dōng），國家二級重點保護動物，屬雀形目八色鴣科。其羽毛色彩斑斕，頭部有黑色貫眼紋與淺棕眉紋，肩羽為亮麗的鈷藍色，腹部至尾下覆羽呈鮮紅色。該物種全球種群數量不足一萬隻，被世界自然保護聯盟列為近危物種。仙八色鴣在深圳屬於極為罕見的過境鳥，這種遷徙性候鳥對棲息地要求極為苛刻，此次在梅林水庫的首次記錄，標誌著該區域生態系統的完整性與連通性顯著提升。
