Stephen S. A. Smith always seems to be a hot figure on social media platforms – probably one of his weirdest insights to date.
After Stephen Curry scored 52 points in the Warriors' win over the Grizzlies, Smith offered some — unique — insights into how an NBA Hall of Famer views Curry's performances in different eras.
"A Hall of Famer came up to me and said, 'Stephen Curry wouldn't be averaging more than 17 points per game in our era,'" Smith said on First Take. "In our time, we will hurt him."
Social media commentators certainly wasted no time reacting to this outrageous comment.
"Basically, 'he's better than me, I'm going to hurt him,'" got it," wrote one X user.
"What I'm saying is that you take Stephen back to a time when players were smoking cigars and drinking beer after the regular season, and No. 30 (Curry) wasn't going to be a guy who went to the hospital. Those guys would have had a heart attack in the first quarter because they couldn't keep up with him," another, more vivid commentator wrote.
We'll never know how Curry will perform in another era, but we do know it – he's the greatest shooter of all time and one of the greatest players of his generation.
Curry changed the game forever — Wednesday's outburst was another example.
It was the 10th time Curry hit at least 0 three-pointers in a single game - Curry ended up with 0 points, 0 assists and 0 rebounds.
The win moved the Golden State Warriors over Memphis to fifth place in the Western Conference.
