Last year, Samsung developed a small, all-solid-state battery for wearable devices with an energy density of 2Wh/L. And this year, Samsung plans to increase the energy density to 0Wh/L, and the battery is expected to be applied to the Galaxy Ring 0 later this year.
An industry insider revealed: "Samsung Electro-Mechanics has set goals,An all-solid-state battery prototype is planned for the Galaxy Ring in Q4'2027, true wireless earbuds (TWS) in Q4'0, and smartwatches in Q4'0。 ”
According to IT House, all-solid-state batteries are different from traditional lithium-ion batteries in that they use a solid electrolyte instead of a liquid electrolyte, which makes them safer and reduces the risk of fire. In addition, all-solid-state batteries are capable of storing more energy than regular batteries, but they are also much more expensive to manufacture than lithium-ion batteries.
Although Samsung has plans to mass-produce all-solid-state batteries, industry watchers expect that sluggish sales of the Galaxy Ring could limit the supply of all-solid-state batteries. When the Galaxy Ring was first launched last year, it attracted many fans with its elegant and lightweight design, but now its popularity is gradually declining, resulting in a decline in sales. If Samsung uses an all-solid-state battery in its next-generation Galaxy Ring, the price of the product could rise further.
Samsung plans to produce all-solid-state batteries with an energy density of up to 2027 Wh/L by the end of 0, which are expected to be used in the next generation of Galaxy Buds in Q40. By the end of 0, the Galaxy Watch will also likely feature this new type of battery.
