Not long ago, a hotel in Chaoyang District, Beijing, received a number of people who reported that they received a call from the hotel's landline, saying that their bank card had been deducted a lot of money, and they could be refunded according to the instructions of the other party. What the hell is going on?

According to the hotel staff, some guests reported that they had informed the bank card to deduct money through the hotel phone. After investigation, there was a room with as many as 200 to 0 calls, and the hotel felt that this situation was very abnormal.

After checking in the hotel, it was found that a man was staying in the room, and he had not been out of the room since he checked in, and he ordered takeout for meals. One day after check-in,The man used the landline in the room to make more than 140 calls, and the call duration was basically between two and ten minutes. Feeling that the situation was suspicious, the hotel immediately contacted the local police station. After receiving the alarm, the police immediately rushed to the scene.

In order to clarify the situation, the police asked the hotel staff to try to stabilize the man. But at this moment, an unexpected situation happened, and the man suddenly ran to the front desk and asked to check out and leave. In the face of the police's questioning, the man has been hesitant and does not match his words

The two devices that the man took out of the suitcase were recognized by the police at a glance, and they were the VOIP converters commonly used by telecom fraud gangs.

According to the police, VOIP equipment can convert traditional telephone signals into network signals. Fraudsters can remotely control domestic devices outside the country, and use domestic landline numbers to make calls and send text messages. In other words, VOIP devices disguise incoming calls from abroad as domestic numbers.

Beware of VOIP devices and call the police as soon as they are found

Just now, the man installed the VOIP device on the landline in the hotel room to assist overseas people to commit fraud.

According to the man's confession, he has never had a regular job, and not long ago, when he was surfing the Internet, he accidentally saw this part-time project that can make money without much brain.

According to the police, the man usually has no job, and then searched for some high-paying jobs from the Internet, and then contacted the other party from the Internet. The other party gave him the corresponding instructions, told him to come to Beijing, take this corresponding equipment, and do it step by step.

presentlyThe suspect Wang has been criminally detained by the Chaoyang police in Beijing in accordance with the law. The case is being further processed. The police reminded that most of the types of telecommunication network fraud carried out by VOIP are shopping refund fraud, impersonation of public prosecutors, cancellation of loan account fraud, and agency credit card fraud. Recently, there have been cases in many places of impersonating staff of communication companies such as China Unicom and China Mobile, and illegally installing VOIP equipment in homes under the pretext of maintenance, network speed, reissue gifts, etc., please be vigilant and report to the police immediately once found.
