When it comes to renovating our first home, we all want to make it as perfect as possible and make it as comfortable as possible.

However, even if you do your homework and renovate, you may still find many unsatisfactory problems after moving in. These problems, while seemingly small, can have a serious impact on our quality of life.

In this era of material overflow, we must learn the right design methods and avoid blindly following the trend.

For the renovation of the second home, I decided not to choose these 5 "things" anymore. These decisions are not groundless, but are based on lessons learned. Next, let me explain it to you in detail.

Invisible drying racks

Based on past experience, I personally do not recommend installing an invisible drying rack. Although this drying rack looks very aesthetically pleasing, it does have some inconveniences.

For example, such drying racks need to be installed in suspended ceilings, and if they fail, they can be very troublesome to repair.

Due to its concealed design, any minor issues can cost a lot of money and time to deal with, compared to an exposed drying rack.

When installing a drying rack, we also need to pay attention to the choice of its size. If the measurements are not accurate, the final result may not be satisfactory, which will directly affect the overall aesthetics of the home.

Moreover, these drying racks are usually expensive, and even the cheaper models can cost thousands of dollars.

Glass shower room

When decorating the bathroom, many people will choose to install a glass shower room in order to achieve dry and wet separation.

However, over time, this design has gradually become obsolete, as its shortcomings are very obvious.

For example, glass shower rooms are more expensive and there is a certain risk of self-explosion, after all, tempered glass is used.

After long-term use, the surface of the glass is prone to dirt accumulation, and it is quite difficult to clean.

In fact, the same amount of money could be used to install a simple shower curtain, which is convenient and more privacy-preserving and less costly.

wall coverings

When choosing wall coverings, I personally do not recommend using wall coverings, especially for those who are inclined to European decoration styles.

They often think that the wall cloth design is more aesthetically pleasing, but in fact this is a misunderstanding.

Because the wall cloth needs to be glued with glue, which usually contains formaldehyde.

The amount of formaldehyde in different glues also varies. Usually, we rarely pay attention to this when choosing a glue.

Especially when we ask a renovation company to decorate, we often don't know the type of glue used, and we can't guarantee that all the glues used are environmentally friendly. Considering the long time for formaldehyde to evaporate, this means that it can lead to severe indoor air pollution after the installation is complete.

Therefore, it is recommended that you do not need to use wall coverings, and it is more environmentally friendly and economical to choose latex paint.

Wooden floors in the kitchen

In order to ensure the uniformity of the interior, I have found that some families choose to install wooden flooring in the kitchen to enhance the aesthetics.

In the beginning, you may think it's very nice to look at and like. But over time, you'll find that the wooden floors in the kitchen are actually quite frivolous.

Due to the material properties of wood flooring, it is particularly difficult to clean. After about half a year, a lot of dirt and oil will accumulate on it, which is difficult to remove.

Not only does this increase the burden of housework, but if it is not cleaned up in time, stains on the floor can also affect its lifespan.

Therefore, it is recommended that you choose ordinary tiles, which are easy to clean and durable, and can effectively extend the service life.

Skin-feeling film cabinet doors

Regarding the design of skin film cabinet doors, I believe that many people have similar unpleasant experiences, and everyone must pay attention to not installing this type of cabinet door in the kitchen.

When I renovated my first home, I chose this design. During use, the doors often leave stains and handprints, which take a lot of time to clean each time.

Even cleaning every day doesn't help, it's really annoying.

Therefore, when decorating, you should avoid choosing skin-feeling film cabinet doors, so as not to bring inconvenience to life.

Summary:

There are many pitfalls to avoid in the decoration process, and these designs mentioned above are what we must pay attention to avoid, otherwise it is likely to bring a lot of inconvenience to your life.
