Tonga's National Disaster Risk Management Office said that morning, the earthquake was felt in the three major islands of Tongatapu, Wava'u and Hapai, as well as on the small islands of Ewa and Niua. So far, no casualties or property damage have been reported in any of the above areas.

湯加由173個島嶼組成，人口約10萬，其中大多數人居住在主島塔布島。美國地質調查局地震信息網顯示，此次震中距離主島東北部約100公里。
