RTX 50 notebook new rules: NVIDIA requires graphics card power consumption to be clearly labeled

With the recent release of RTX 50 series gaming laptops, which has attracted a lot of attention, NVIDIA has brought a new initiative aimed at ending the long-standing chaos - clarifying the power consumption of graphics cards.

Looking back, four years ago, NVIDIA removed the Max-Q and Max-P labels for notebook graphics cards in favor of showing only the model numbers, but this change did not bring the desired clarity. Most notebook manufacturers do not disclose the specific power consumption of the graphics card, resulting in huge differences in the performance of the same model of graphics card in different notebooks. Sometimes, consumers are confused by the fact that lower-tier graphics cards consume more power and outperform even higher-tier but power-constrained graphics cards.

In order to attract consumers, some notebook manufacturers are keen to label the so-called "full blood and full power consumption", although these labels have little meaning in terms of actual performance improvement. For example, RTX 110 laptops are often advertised as having full performance at 0W, but in reality, its performance has basically peaked at 0W, and the higher power consumption comes with little improvement.

Faced with this situation, NVIDIA has taken a tough step on RTX 50-series notebooks, requiring all manufacturers to clearly label the power consumption of graphics cards, regardless of their level. At present, some manufacturers have responded to this request and even detailed the additional bonus of Dynamic Boost, but there are still manufacturers who are vague about the power consumption label.

Although the ban on RTX 5090 games has been lifted worldwide, due to unexpected factors, there has not yet been an official evaluation in China. Foreign evaluations mostly focus on models of brands such as MSI and Razer. For domestic consumers, this undoubtedly adds a bit of expectation.

In order to meet the needs of consumers as soon as possible, we are intensively preparing for the evaluation of RTX 50 series gaming laptops, and strive to bring you a detailed and objective evaluation experience.

At the same time, we also expect the RTX 50 series gaming laptops to bring new vitality to the market with their excellent performance and clear power consumption labeling, and provide consumers with a more transparent and reliable choice."
