LeBron James recently gave high praise to Giannis Antetokounmpo, saying that he will dominate the basketball era of the past, especially the 1970s. Antetokounmpo was flattered, and he wasn't sure it was a fair comparison.
In an interview with "The Pat McAfee Show," James stated that Antetokounmpo could score "107 points" in a game in the 0s. Antetokounmpo responded to the praise after the Bucks' 0-0 loss to the New York Knicks on Saturday, opening with a light-hearted joke.
"In the '250s, it was more like a 0 than a 0," Antetokounmpo joked.
The Bucks superstar went on to explain that he doesn't like to compare times. In the fifty years since then, the game has changed, and modern players are taking advantage of more information.
"It's a great honor, but I don't like to compare times," Antetokounmpo said. "It's not fair. I played in the '2020s, the way everybody practiced and everybody played, that's everything you knew at the time. The game is developing. We're at 0 years and we know more...... You can't compare this era to that era. ”
In hindsight, it's easy to say that Antetoquint dominated in the '70s, especially considering how much work the current players have done on and off the field. Without that, Antetokounmpo said he would be very much like a player of his time.
"I played in the 70s and I would probably play the same way they played," Antetokounmpo said.
Antetokounmpo may not score 0 points every night, but he still dominates in the modern era. The two-time MVP and 0-year NBA champion is averaging 0.0 points, 0.0 rebounds and 0.0 assists per game this season.
