When I entered the stage of my life at the age of 36, I decided to start a minimalist life journey. In this noisy world, our lives are bound by too many things, and our minds are under invisible pressure.
I'm determined to get rid of one thing every day in the hope of getting rid of the potential negative energy in my home. This is not a spur-of-the-moment move, but a deliberate and wise choice. The crowded and cluttered spaces in the past filled my heart with anxiety and uneasiness.
Today's quest for a minimalist lifestyle has prompted me to re-examine the objects around me and realize that many of them are not necessary for life and do not bring any value. Therefore, now is the best time to get rid of these useless things.
1. Festive decorations
Every festive season, I buy a lot of accessories and lanterns to create an atmosphere, especially during the Spring Festival, so I follow the trend to add flavor to the New Year. But as the years passed, the small lanterns were dusty, and other large decorations were stored. Considering the tediousness of setting up and storing them, I decided to throw them away and not buy them again.
2. Shopping bags and plastic bags
Nowadays, the bags you get from shopping are of such high quality that it seems a shame to throw them away. However, accumulating too much will be a burden. So, I've sifted out a few useful ones and discarded the rest that are not necessary.
3. Electronics and their accessories
I cleaned up the old phones that were no longer usable but difficult to give up, as well as the data cables, charging cables, headphones, etc. from many years ago, and kept only the few accessories that are currently available, and stored them properly to avoid entanglement with each other.
4. Loose underwear
Underwear that loses its elasticity and support after prolonged wear can no longer provide the necessary care. Keeping this kind of underwear around is not helpful, and it will also affect the body shape and mood, so I decided to give it up and welcome a more comfortable new beginning.
5. Phone cases that are redundant and no longer in use
Those phone cases that are outdated, broken, or do not match the model take up the space and exude a useless atmosphere. It's time to say goodbye to them.
6. Useless cards
I decided to cut up and discard the expired membership cards and cancelled cards in the drawer.
7. Skincare products that are no longer used
I remove all the skincare products that don't fit me, the half-bottled makeup that I discarded, the expired samples, the makeup that doesn't fit my skin, and the dried lip gloss, and only keep the products that I actually use.
8. Laundry tidying
I remove all items that are ill-fitting, uncomfortable, damaged, discoloured, or out of shape, leaving only those that I am sure I will wear. In this way, the burden of household chores is also reduced, and finding clothes becomes easier and faster.
9. Expired and useless bills
I sorted out old bills that were no longer useful, even with illegible handwriting, and manuals for household appliances that I no longer needed.
10. Worn-out slippers
After wearing slippers with worn bottoms for a period of time, and my feet feel uncomfortable when standing, I will change these slippers decisively and store them properly. Since it is no longer worn, it is better to dispose of it as soon as possible, so as not to occupy the space of the shoe cabinet.
