Raspberry is a nutritious small berry, it is also a traditional Chinese medicine "raspberry", the fruit has a sweet and sour taste, can nourish the liver and eyes. Raspberry fresh fruit market is relatively rare, the price is not low, in fact, raspberry is very easy to maintain, at home potted can achieve raspberry freedom.

Selection of raspberry varieties

There are many varieties of raspberries, which can be divided into red raspberries, black raspberries and yellow raspberries according to their color. Some varieties are more upright and can be planted in pots or ground, while others are very vine-like and need to build a climbing pergola, such as black raspberries. The Blue Demon planted a black raspberry a few years ago, it was too long, and the results were very many, but I personally felt that the taste of the black raspberry had too many grains, and it was not very tasty, so it was eliminated later.

Among the raspberry varieties, the yellow raspberry and red raspberry have a better taste, and it is recommended to plant the yellow raspberry "Golden Autumn", which has a sweeter taste and is a double season with a higher yield. Red raspberry "Red Diamond" is also a double-season high-yielding variety, and it also tastes good. The red raspberry "Tomila" is also very tasty, and it bears fruit in a single season.

Raspberry potted plant yield maintenance method

Raspberries are very adaptable to the environment, tenacious in life, and belong to small berries that are relatively easy to grow. If you want to have a good yield of potted raspberries, Blue Demon recommends that you focus on the following points.

1. Choose a slightly larger pot for planting

Raspberries are clumped, and the root system is shallow-rooted, so when potting raspberries, the Blue Demon recommends that you choose a pot with a larger diameter but not too deep, and a regular proportion of root control pots or low pots are OK.

2. The potting soil is loose and breathable, and it is acidic

Raspberries prefer sandy loam soils rich in organic matter, loose and well-ventilated, and it is recommended to use a slightly acidic formula for potting. Or use 2 parts of peat soil, 0 parts of humus soil, 0 parts of perlite, add an appropriate amount of fermented organic fertilizer and mix evenly before planting. Raspberries do not have very high requirements for soil, so they can be loose and breathable, and slightly acidic.

When raspberry seedlings are planted in pots, attention should be paid to transplanting with the original soil mass, fully watering after planting, and first slowing the seedlings in a bright astigmatism place for about 3 days, and then gradually increasing the light.

3. Keep fertilizer and water sufficient

The root system of raspberry is relatively shallow, mostly distributed on the soil surface, so the drought tolerance of raspberry is relatively poor, and attention should be paid to watering to avoid drought during the maintenance process. During the growing season of raspberries, you can water thoroughly when the surface of the potting soil dries.

Raspberries grow quickly and are prone to strong shoots from the base, such as the double-season fruiting varieties such as "Golden Autumn", where the previous year's old shoots bear fruit in the spring and ripen in the summer, while the new shoots of the current year bear fruit in the summer and ripen in the fall. Therefore, if you want raspberries to grow vigorously and bear more fruits, fertilization is very important.

In the germination period of raspberry sprouts in spring, it is recommended to use high nitrogen fertilizer to promote the growth of new branches, and increase the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer during flowering and fruit set, which can promote fruit set, improve the resistance of raspberry plants, and improve the quality of fruits. You can use chemical fertilizers, organic nutrient solutions, or ferment peanut bran water or rapeseed cake fertilizer water by yourself, and grow organic fruits by yourself, which is more safe to eat.

At the same time of regular topdressing of water and fertilizer, it is recommended to maintain the topdressing of fermented organic fertilizer granules once for about 3 months, which can continue to provide nutrients to raspberries and make up for the lack of fertilizer caused by untimely topdressing of water and fertilizer.

4. Keep the sun sufficient, and the summer will not be stormy

Raspberries need more light to grow and fruit, but some raspberry varieties are not very good in light tolerance, and shrub-type raspberry potted plants are recommended to shade in summer to avoid sunburn of leaves. Raspberries that climb vines will be more sun-tolerant, and it is recommended to choose appropriate shade or no shade according to the characteristics of raspberry varieties.

5. Trim properly

Raspberries are thriving and clumping, so potted raspberries need to be pruned properly to maintain the shape of the tree and promote fruiting. Raspberry pruning is divided into winter dormant pruning and growing pruning.

After the raspberry leaves fall every winter, the strong long branches should be shortened according to the tree potential, and the weak branches and diseased branches should be completely pruned to remove the weak and leave the strong, so that the new shoots that come out in spring will be stronger and bear more fruits.

In the growing season, the main thing is to prune the over-dense branches, if the branches grow too densely, it will affect the ventilation and light, and the fruit will be less, so it is necessary to cut off some over-dense branches, so that each branch can receive enough light as much as possible, which is more conducive to fruiting.
