As an important tool used by enterprises in the jurisdiction for personnel transportation and material supply, the recognition of traffic boats in water navigation is directly related to navigation safety. There are a total of 13 traffic boats in the Zhenjiang section of the Yangtze River, which are used to pick up and drop off personnel from the water service area to the anchorage. During operation, the traffic boat may have violations such as sailing beyond the approved navigation area and crossing in violation of regulations; Unsafe behaviors such as drivers playing with mobile phones, fatigue driving, and passengers not wearing life jackets as required. In addition, each traffic boat has a different color, which is difficult to be quickly and accurately identified under conditions such as poor visibility, which brings certain hidden dangers to water traffic safety.

In order to further strengthen the construction of the whole-process monitoring capacity of passenger-related ships and realize the intelligent safety supervision of traffic boats, the Zhenjiang Maritime Safety Bureau conducted in-depth research and analysis, actively contacted the traffic boat management units in the jurisdiction, organized a special meeting on the prevention and resolution of safety risks of passenger-related ships, and promoted the installation of traffic boat coloring and AI intelligent monitoring system.

The traffic boat is colored with orange paint, which can be clearly seen at long distances and in complex weather conditions, which greatly improves its recognition. As a result, the risk of collision accidents is effectively reduced, and it is also conducive to the maritime authorities to identify targets more quickly and accurately in the supervision process, and improve the efficiency of supervision.

After the AI intelligent monitoring system is installed on the traffic boat, a large area of safety monitoring can be carried out, including the safety of personnel in the passenger area and the personnel on duty on the bridge, and video recording and analysis can be summarized according to the abnormal conditions identified by the system. At the same time, real-time monitoring and intelligent alarm of unsafe behaviors are realized, which effectively improves the level of intelligent supervision of passenger-related ships.

In the next step, the Zhenjiang Maritime Safety Bureau will summarize and refine relevant experience, comprehensively do a good job in the coloring of traffic boats and the installation of intelligent AI equipment in the jurisdiction, track and evaluate the use of AI systems, promote closed-loop rectification of various problems, and comprehensively improve the supervision level of passenger-related ships.
